Pets and Service Animals
- SriLankan Airlines accepts domestic animals such as cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, and ornamental fish as a checked baggage. Passengers who would like to carry pets must contact the airline to make sure of the availability to carry their pets in the cargo compartment.
- Pets carried as checked baggage (Pet + Food + any related items), excess baggage fees will be applied accordingly
- Passengers with pets must check the health requirements and liability policy.
- For service animals such as seeing eye/ hearing dogs, passengers should inform the airline prior to the fight.
Conditions of Acceptance seeing eye/ hearing dogs
- The dog must be properly muzzled and harnessed. It must be well behaved, inoffensive, clean and odourless and the leash of the dog must be secured to the owner’s seatbelt at all times during the flight.
- It is not allowed to move in the cabin and is expected to be seated near the passenger.
- Absorbent material should be placed under the dog in order to prevent soiling of the aircraft floor
