Trevi Fountain

Nicola Salvi designed this incredible fountain in 1732, showcasing an over-the-top collection of baroque-style mythical creatures and wild horses along one whole side of the 17th-century Palazzo Poli, a palace amid the city. The tradition at this fountain, known in Italian as Fontana di Trevi, is to toss a coin in the water to ensure you come back to Rome.

Fun fact

About USD 3,300 is thrown into this fountain every day.
