Brunswick Monument

There’s a reason this monument is similar in style to the tomb of the Scaliger Tombs in Verona, Italy. German-born Charles II, the Duke of Brunswick, left his fortune to the city of Geneva in exchange for a monument built in his name, with specific instructions that it had to replicate the Scaliger Tombs. Today the mausoleum is a popular tourist destination.
